Tuna
A concept store where fashion, jewelry, crafts, and objects created in Mexico bring together different expressions of contemporary design under one roof.
Tuna functions as a small collection of Mexico. Instead of focusing on a single discipline, it brings together garments, jewelry, accessories, and objects selected for their design, materials, and relationship to different forms of artisanal production.
Linen, cotton, bamboo, silk, and other materials appear within a proposal where the work of Mexican designers and artisans occupies an important place. The selection also extends to household objects and elements related to scents and rituals, making browsing the store part of the experience.
That variety allows discovering a contemporary Mexico that does not need to abandon its traditional techniques and materials to look forward. Each object may come from hands, regions, and processes different, but shares the intention of offering something with more identity than a mass-produced souvenir.
Tuna is also the name of the fruit that grows on the prickly pear, a plant capable of thriving in some of the most difficult landscapes in Mexico. A fairly appropriate name for a store that brings together Mexican creativity: colorful on the outside, deeply tied to its territory, and considerably more interesting when one decides to look inside.
