Casa Banana

An Argentine-inspired grill where wood fire, seasonal flavors, and tropical nights meet at one of the classics of Tulum Beach.

At Casa Banana, fire is never simply a cooking technique. It is the center around which the entire experience revolves. Inspired by Argentine grills and surrounded by the vegetation of Tulum Beach, the restaurant has been proving for years that good embers, carefully chosen ingredients, and a Caribbean night can tell a story without too many adornments. Meats, fish, and vegetables go through the wood-fired grill, where smoke and high temperatures build intense flavors without masking the product. The Argentine influence appears naturally, but the kitchen also listens to the place where it is located, incorporating seasonal ingredients and regional products to create a proposal that belongs as much to the southern continent as to the Mexican Caribbean. The experience begins to change when the sun disappears. Warm lights appear among the palm trees, the bar wakes up with cocktails and wines, and the aroma of burning wood accompanies the outdoor tables. Casa Banana preserves something of that older, simpler Tulum that existed before it became an international phenomenon: good food, nature around, and no need to separate things too much from one another. Perhaps that is the best way to understand this place. A grill lit in the middle of the tropics, where Argentina brought the fire and Tulum put everything else.
